Brendan Games Gordon (College of Medicine)
It’s more or less explained in the video, but basically this is a prototype for a multitool for medical students. It has the following:
– A Reflex Hammer
– A penlight
– A Fagan Nomogram
– A Snellen chart
– A pupil gauge and quick screen for colourblindness
– A pen/marker
Not only that, but it barely costs a dollar to make (assuming you have access to a 3d printer and 40 minutes of time). It’s a simple 3d printed structure and a paper layout that can be remixed or added on to. At the moment, I’m trying to figure out just how to fill the rest of the empty space I have on some of the faces. Thinking more long term, I have a few designs for how to include an opthalmascope in it, but that requires a bit more time and money than I have at the moment. If you have an old opthalmascope lying around, or have any ideas as to how it can be improved, please contact me. I won’t include my email here, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find on Entrada.
One thing I thought was sort of interesting, is that in designing this, it sort of took on the shape of a rod or scepter, which is the traditional symbol of medicine. If I ever decide to sell it, maybe I’ll entice people by offering a snake at no extra cost. Snake included, batteries not included.
